Lazy Days For You and Me
As July draws to a close, the mercury keeps going up – up – up here in Alabama! If you want to go outside without melting, you either need to do it before daybreak or have a pool near by.
For me, super hot weather is the same as bitter cold weather. It drives me indoors (or under a canopy!) and tends to slow me down a little. Is that you, too? Well sister, I say grab your down time! With the kids about to go back to school and holiday madness just around the corner, let’s take some time to reenergize at the end of our summer for the busy season that we know is ahead of us.
God wants us to rest. He is not a fan of us running around exhausting ourselves. He provides a safe haven of rest for us if we will only accept it.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. Psalm 23:2-3
What is your favorite way to catch your breath, slow down and just be? I have several but one of mine is to read a good book. Being a blogger, I do a tremendous amount of reading about information pertaining to web research, SEO, algorithm, branding and such. Sometimes, it is just nice to take a break from all of that and sink into someone’s story. What has their life been like? What has God brought them through? What advise would they have for me during this tough time in my life?
I believe reading is such a gift and I want to share that gift with you today! Earlier this year at the leadership of Allison at Reclaim the Roar, myself and nine other bloggers composed a list of our favorite books. Books that encouraged us, taught us and spoke to our hearts. If you are looking for a way to spoil yourself in these last few weeks of summer, consider checking out one of these fabulous books! I can promise you, you will not be disappointed!
